This new 52 Liter white color Touchless Trashcan SX model uses the latest sensor technology and patented space saving lid opening design. As your hand or debris enter the zone 6 inches from the infrared sensor on top of the trash can, the lid will automatically slide open. No up or down lid motion means more capacity in less space. The lid will remain open if debris or hand is within the 6 inch range of the infrared sensor. 3 seconds after your hand moves away from the lid it closes automatically. At top front of the lid there are open and close buttons for manual operation, and there is a on/off power switch on the back of the trash can. Just So-so : iTouchless Fully Automatic White Color Touchless Trashcan SX, 13 Gallon (52 Liter)

Ok, so I've read everyone's review and will say, up front, that everyone is right about the inside of the can ripping/shredding garbage bags with its flawed design. Whoever designed the inside of the can needs to be fired. There's triangular "teeth" that serve no discernable function other than to make life miserable when it comes time to empty the trash. My solution? I just used thick duct tape around the inside of the rim to cover up the "teeth" and now everything's fine. No problems taking out the bag. As for the claims about the sticker on the can and having trouble getting it off, I ordered mine through Amazon and it did not come with ANY stickers on it. Maybe someone from the company read the reviews here on Amazon? : ) Lastly, the complaints about how "loud" it is and how slow the automatic opener is, I don't think the opening/closing noise is any worse than others that I've had, and the speed of the opening/closing door was fine once I put in brand new Duracells. I, for one, am very happy with this trash can. It holds A LOT of garbage because it's about 6 inches taller than the traditional can. Would I buy it again? Absolutely!

You'll regret it., November 23, 2009 By Olivia (Boston, Ma) - See all my reviews I bought this automatic trash can because I opinion it would be more hygienic since I would not need to touch the lid. However, as other reviewers wrote, it's so badly designed, and is full of problems. I bough this two months ago and am planning to get a step-on trash bin this weekend and "trash" this piece of garbage. If you want to know more, here are the main problems I had with this product. Problem #1: highly bad design. You can't get the trash out smoothly, and roughly all the time, the trash bag gets ripped, so you end up leaning the trash can, yourself and kitchen floor. Problem #2: Frequent battery change. The trash can itself is not cheap, but you have to keep buying 4 D-size batteries every 2-3 months. It adds up. Also it's no ifs ands or buts hard to take off the panel to change the battery. I all the time end up asking my husband to do it after so much struggles trying to open the panel. Problem #3: Too sensitive sensor. The sensor is so sensitive and it opens up everytime you pass by and it takes 4 seconds to close it. It means the odor of the trash comes out and fills up your kitchen. Problem #4: Bad for children. The height is about the same height with my 1-year-old and he is amuzed by this trash can. He can open it so easily, so he tried to put things into the trash can. Also you don't want your 1-year-old to be exposed to the smell and possibly touch the trash inside. Hope this helps. I decided to write a delineate because I feel tricked by good reviews for this product. I read them prior to purchasing this product and feel betrayed by them. I regret that I bought this so much.
